Prior to Europpomeet, I spent a few days in Barcelona (wonderful city). I forgot that most musuems are closed on Mondays, so had to find a new activity and found the maritime museum was one of the few that were open. While wandering the maritime I saw this neat floating drydock/slip to build new ships and repair old ones.
The building was built in the 1500s to store the galleys in the winter. and features a full scale replica galley.
Out of the corner of my eye I saw a shape that made me thin “That 911 looks a bit odd” to then get a better look and see a 15 + T aycans drive by.

The amount of ornamentation on that galley is simply breathtaking. Were they all that fancy? Nice pictures there.

My favorite Catalan things that I can enjoy. The women are off limits.

I think this one was extra fancy as it would have been more of a VIP transport.
M ost galleys by the 1500s, the rowers were slaves, who were permenently chained to their benches. With being at sea for a couple days, it was said the galleys could be smelled if upwind , before they were seen.

Fascinating, yet horrific.
